Terms of service
Last updated 12 October 2026
Agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Aretia Labs ({{FOUNDER: legal entity type and registration number}}, {{FOUNDER: registered address}}), the maker of Cerisel. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
Who can use it
You must be at least {{FOUNDER: minimum age, suggested 16}} years old, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live. If you use Cerisel for an organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.
Your account
- You sign in through the Aretia Labs sign-in service.
- Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
- One person per account. Don’t share your sign-in with others.
Acceptable use
- Don’t use the app for anything illegal, harmful or abusive.
- Don’t try to break, overload, probe or get around the security or rate limits of the service.
- Don’t access other people’s accounts or data.
- Don’t scrape the service, resell it, or reverse engineer it, except where the law lets you.
- Don’t upload malware or content you have no right to store.
We may suspend or limit an account that breaks these rules.
Your content
Everything you put into the app, such as tasks, projects, tags, goals and tracked time, is yours. We don’t claim ownership of it.
You give Aretia Labs a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy and process your content, only so we can run the service for you: saving it, syncing it, backing it up, showing it back to you and exporting it. The licence ends when your content is deleted, apart from short-lived backups that expire on their own.
You’re responsible for your content and for having the right to store it. See the privacy policy for how we handle personal data.
Beta and free use
Cerisel is in beta and free to use today. Features may change, be limited or be removed, and the service may have bugs. Using it for free doesn’t entitle you to any particular feature, or to free use in future.
Paid plans
If we introduce paid plans, we’ll tell you before anything you use starts to cost money, and you won’t be charged without agreeing to it first. When paid plans launch, these terms apply to them:
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period (monthly or yearly, as shown at checkout) until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time from your account. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- We’ll give you advance notice of any price change, and it applies from your next renewal. If you don’t accept it, you can cancel before then.
- Prices are shown with applicable taxes, such as VAT or GST, or the taxes are added at checkout.
- Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider that acts as the merchant of record. We don’t see or store your full card details.
Refunds and withdrawal rights are covered in the refund and cancellation policy.
Changes and availability
We work to keep Cerisel running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features, and may pause the service for maintenance. If we remove something you rely on in a significant way, we’ll try to tell you first.
Export and ending your account
You can export your data at any time from the app, and delete your account at any time from Settings (transfer or delete any organisation you own first). Export first if you want to keep your data, because deleting your account erases it.
- Items you delete go to Trash, are kept for 30 days, then purged. The purge runs the next time you use the app.
- When you delete your account, your Aretia Labs account, which also signs you in to other Aretia Labs apps, is deleted, and your tasks, projects and other app data are erased straight away. Short-lived backups expire on their own, as the privacy policy explains.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we must close by law. We’ll tell you why where we can, and give you a chance to export your data unless that would be unsafe or unlawful.
- Anything that should survive the end of these terms, such as the limits on liability, will survive.
Our rights
Cerisel, its software, design, name and logo belong to Aretia Labs or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while these terms apply. Nothing here transfers any of our intellectual property to you. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
Third-party services
The service relies on third parties, such as cloud hosting, email delivery and, later, payments. They have their own terms, and we’re not responsible for their services beyond what the law requires of us. Links to other sites are for your convenience only.
Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we give no warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Don’t rely on it as the only copy of anything important.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, Aretia Labs isn’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or takes away consumer rights you have by law.
Indemnity
If you use the service for business, you agree to cover Aretia Labs against claims and costs that come from your content or from your breach of these terms. This doesn’t apply to you as a consumer.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of {{FOUNDER: governing-law jurisdiction}}. Courts in {{FOUNDER: dispute venue}} have jurisdiction, except that if you’re a consumer you keep any right to bring a claim in the courts where you live, and the mandatory consumer laws of your country still apply to you.
Please contact us first at the address below; most problems can be sorted out without a dispute.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and tell you in the app or by email when a change is significant. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms. If you don’t, you can delete your account.
